RH Bill: Tale of the Tape & A Plea to Congress

The most controversial bill that is, Reproductive Health Bill
This one deserves a spot here in my blogspot.

RH BILL: Unsolved Puzzle. Perennial Riddle.

The most opinionated issue, a never ending flaming debate; a bitter and hanging sequel.

Several bills have been filed on reproductive health, population control, and the like. Several alterations and compromises have been made. Still, the bill isn't going anywhere. The course cannot veer off the road to outerspace. "Kumbaga sa traffic, parang nasa EDSA - hindi makausad. At kumbaga sa pader, tulad nang nakasulat: Post No Bill."

The main problem lies on the premise of the two-conflicting parties: propositions differ with regard to the definition of abortion.

The proponents of this bill grip firmly on human facts, verified statistics and practical human reasoning; meanwhile the dissenting party tackles morality and church dogmas, fronting it as defiance for it is against the will of God. Pro-RH stalwarts call it prevention of unwanted/harmful pregnancy, right of informed choice and education alike. Anti-RH strong advocates beg to disagree hence, see it as an anti-life movement and probably the torch bearer of other bills which may eventually destroy the sanctity of life and the family. For the former, as long as there is no conception, there's no life to begin with. "Then how can a life be conceived if something is blocking the way, that's abortion," claim by the latter meanwhile.

The said bill  is undeniably a politically-sensitive issue and this is why most of our politicians keep their mouth shut, treading on a purgatory ground and implicitly aloof on the matter. Public officials, district and national legislators need the people's support and be at stage of consensus... and being a catholicentric country, you may expect why most of them act in odd behavior.

FAITH VS SCIENCE - Highly improbable

Science is factual reasoning. It's objective in the most plausible way. It's a dignified status-quo; a general truth; a law. On the other hand, Faith is simply abstract, it's beyond reasoning. It is immeasurable and may be subjective in some given instances.

So what does religion have to do with faith? Simple. It is the bedrock of one's religion. Religion cannot exist without the virtue of such.

Apparently, a duel between the two can never take place. Yes, the argument is there, but one cannot participate. Faith is NON-DEBATABLE for it's not logical. It is intangible. It's just like love. Can you explain love? How it occurs, arrived and what it feels like? It's beyond intellect. Our braincells can't handle that.

A PLEA TO OUR LEGISLATORS

To our ever dearest congressmen,

Live up to the meaning of your prestigious throne in whereas each and every individual of this diversified nation had collectively committed suffrage for you to be seated therein. All of you are duty-bound philanthropic, humanitarian public officials.

Don't fortify the congress as a bastion only for the powerful, influential and wealthy.

Don't let the essence of "representative" become a totally misnomer and obscure term for the masses.

Don't let somebody dictate, maneuver and use your own judgment.

Do consult your constituents, hear their voices. Give special treatment to the marginalized, for the women, the mothers in particular. Do what the majority truly needs, not just what others want.

When the real voting shall take place, please do not vote in vain but vote in highest probity.

You're there for a purpose, for a goal, for a better reason.

THE BOTTOM LINE

At the end of the day, it is God who gave each and one of us our own free will. We are the ones entitled to our own fate. Whatever discretion may be imposed, it can be claim as right & just as long as it is with accordance to our conscience. It is just matter of good will with full pledge of sincerity.

And by that, God knows we can do good thereafter for Him, it makes us rational.
